An edible food forest is coming to Holt! A big shout out, congratulations and thank you to group members Corey Le Mesurier and Arthur Lau who submitted a successful grant application for an ACT Government Community Garden Grant 2021-22. The successful grant of approx $7,500 is to establish a food forest garden as part of the Holt Community Micro-Forest initiative. The grant was submitted in conjunction with Capital Region Community Services.
The food forest garden will use sustainable gardening techniques to develop a layered forest of edible plants for the community. The initiative will be led by Corey and Arthur, and will be intertwined with the Holt Micro-Forest project. The food forest will also be reflected in the Micro-Forest landscape design currently being drafted by The Climate Factory.
